(The set up of 18 tables at East Gate of Far Eastern. We need 15 tables.)
Today’s meeting was planned on Mar. 9, when the first 7 members, Catherine, Salina, Iris, Peter, Charles, Dick and Andrew, met at Sherwood, and Andrew was recommended to do the email correspondence and collections of photos for the reunion, since I was the youngest and retired person.
In the past 52 days, so many things have happened. Now we have 120 colleagues registered for reunion (plus another 24 due from HongKong). We expect the dinner party will have about 180 attendants, and tour 120. Also, we set up the Linmark Family Blog on April 04, with more than 5260 visitors, 274 photos, 98 articles posted. More alumni are sharing their photos, events, and messages with us. I earnestly hope more will share things on our Blog, and the Linmark Family will grow bigger and closer as time goes on.
Originally, Salina offered to treat 6 of us at Far Eastern’s coffee shop since she had 3 tickets with 50% discount. However, since Stephen Cheung volunteered to come from Hong Kong to help, and Ronny Liu and wife had traveled here from States, and Salina also invited Barbara and Rei-Lin Chen from N.Y. , and I also invited Sophia Lai(淑娟), Richard Chen (義凱), and Marty Lin(武雄) and Yvon Chen (月雲) to join. So, we all felt it’s proper to use Mr. Jen’s fund for today’s activities.
For today’s meetings, Iris spent much time to go through her old albums and scanned them into disk for me. She also brought the old photos to share with us. Yvon also scanned her photos and brought to me. Patty also found lots of photos, and will scan them for me shortly. And Peter Kuo agreed to my request to send me photos of his paintings to be posted on our Blog. Peter showed us his paintings in his Ipad and will donate his most beautiful seashore painting viewed from Qiu Fen(九份) for lottery on 9/24 party. Stephen gave us some good advice for activity planning , control of progress and gave us his record DVD of 2010 reunion in Hong Kong for our reference.
After the breakfast, we moved on to Charles big and nice apartment at Guan Du. We enjoyed delicious fruits, cakes, nuts, tea prepared by Helen, Charles wife. And we sang songs loudly and heartedly. Peter, Stephen and Charles are great singers. Especially, Peter and Stephen, they are just like professional singers. Sometimes we sang together, or one after another for one song. Peter initiated “My Way”, then Andrew followed, and then Stephen finished it. It was lots of fun and enjoyment. Dana also sang “夢陀鈴”, but the man’s key was too high for her, and Charles joined to sing together.
Then, at Charles’ recommendation, we took MRT to “小酌之家” in a small lane near 錦洲公園, and enjoyed a delicious dinner. There were 17 people joined the dinner, including Martin Lin, who is a vegetarian and sincere Buddhism. We had to ask for one extra dish of vegetable for him. The total expense is even NT$2500 cheaper than our breakfast for 13 people.
I brought 4x3 +2=14 of Mr. Jen’s books to Salina, Rei-lin, Stephen, Patty and Peter at Far Eastern, and after the dinner, Dana, Iris, Barbara, Yvon, Ronny and wife, and Martin came to my home to take their desired books. Total 40 books were sent out today. Everybody was so happy and grateful to Mr. Jen for hosting today’s activities and giving them his precious books. They can’t wait to read Mr. Jen’s books.
Now it’s my share to review all the photos, edit them if necessary, and post them to our Blog, so everyone can share and enjoy.
Attached are the table set up for 18 tables at East Gate of Far Eastern, but we only need 15 tables (12 persons a table, since we don’t eat much), and can remove 3 tables for singing/dancing activities on the evening. Also, attached is the planned itinerary for 9/25 tour.
This letter will be posted to our Blog today, and photos will be collected from Yvon, Iris and Ronny later to post on our Blog.
